Wever & Ducré

The costumer

Wever & Ducré offers LED luminaires with modern design and high-quality materials. The company was founded in the early 1980s by a group of Belgian founders. Today, the brand produces luminaires that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The latest generation of LEDs are suitable for various applications, from loft flats to club rooms. They save space, conserve resources and improve the quality of life. Wever & Ducré continuously co-operates with artists and designers to develop innovative LED lighting solutions and delivers them promptly and directly from stock.

The challenge

Wever & Ducré is an international company with sales locations throughout Europe and a global network of partners. The majority of products are produced internationally and distributed via the logistics centre in Belgium. The company's particular strength lies in its enormous flexibility and customer-orientation, made possible by the close integration of the sales units into the company processes. This resulted in the requirement for multiple intercompany chains.

The solution

In a very short preparation time of just 6 months, core processes were analysed, the ERP system AX was set up, company processes were adapted and all employees were trained. Test runs with key users secured the rollout, which went according to plan and ensured ‘normal operation’ after just a few days. At the time of the rollout, the logistics centre was still in Aalst, Belgium, while the company headquarters were in Kortrijk, Belgium, and the relocation of the logistics centre to Kortrijk was already planned. The old ERP system (Navision) was replaced by AX in a big bang (complete and immediate changeover), as the employees did not want to lose the intercompany functions of Navision. The warehouse relocation took place within a week with only 2 working days of downtime, prioritising a training concept for the permanent staff who had partially relocated to Kortrijk.

The result

The introduction of Dynamics AX and the integrated warehouse management system solution significantly improved order processing in customer service, resulting in much shorter response times to customers. The number of deliveries per day and employees in the logistics centre has also been significantly increased. In addition, picking errors in the warehouse have been reduced to a minimum. The next step will be to integrate the web shop, which will increase customer service by another level.

The feedback

"Thanks to the xalax team for their very competent support during our ERP conversion from Dynamics Navision to Dynamics AX. The project team very quickly understood our business and our processes. As a result, we were able to implement the changeover in a very short time and with incredibly short downtime for the go-live."
